The following are frequently asked questions regarding the It's All Tech website. These questions and answers are designed to make your It's All Tech experience easier and smoother.

User accounts and logging in

Q: What benefits does creating an account with It's All Tech give me?
A: Creating an account with It's All Tech allows you to customize your experience, have access to your Dashboard, and in the future, comment on articles. In addition, you will have access to post to our forums system.

Q: How can I create an It's All Tech account?

Q: Where is the login page located?
A: You can login to your It's All Tech account here: http://itsalltech.com/wp-admin

Q: How can I change my password and/or edit my profile once I have an account?
A: To change your password from the automatically generated one for you, or to make changes to your profile, simply enter your Dashboard by going here: http://itsalltech.com/wp-admin. Next, in the sidebar on the left, find the section titled "Users" and then click on "Your Profile."

Q: Can I change my username after I registered an account with It's All Tech?
A: To change your username for your It's All Tech account, please email brian [at] itsalltech [dot] com with your current username and password. Please note that your password will be reset following a username change for security purposes.

Q: What happens if I forget the password for my It's All Tech account?
A: If you forget the password to your It's All Tech account, go here: http://itsalltech.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword. Then, fill in the needed information and a password reset will be emailed to you.

Commenting, Moderation, and Customization

Q: What commenting system does It's All Tech use for articles?
A: It's All Tech uses Livefyre as its commenting system.

Q: What are my sign in options to be able to leave a comment on It's All Tech?
A: Currently, the following choices are available to sign in to comment: Livefyre account, Facebook, Twitter, Google, LinkedIn, and OpenID. In the future, you will be able to login using your It's All Tech account.

Q: What are the policies for comments on It's All Tech?
A: We encourage our commenters to comment on articles. No profanity is allowed (whether it be towards another commenter, the author of the article, It's All Tech, or in general). Comments are not pre-moderated, meaning that they will be posted without approval from a moderator. Comments are moderated by the It's All Tech staff 24/7, and if a comment is deemed inappropriate, it will be immediately removed from It's All Tech.

Q: I posted a comment, but I can't see it?
A: First, refresh the page. If your comment still isn't showing up, please wait up to five minutes as it may be processing through Livefyre and It's All Tech databases. If after five minutes your comment still has not appeared, please contact brian [at] itsalltech [dot] com with the method you chose to login, the general text of the comment, and, if possible, you username. In addition, your comment may have been removed because it was deemed inappropriate by an It's All Tech moderator.

Q: Why isn't my comment being counted in the comment number count on It's All Tech?
A: It will take time from when you post your comment to when it is imported into our databases. In addition, It's All Tech uses a database caching tool that will delay the time from when a comment is posted to when it is counted. This is normal behavior and should not be reported to It's All Tech staff.

Q: Can I post links in comments?
A: Yes.

Q: What does the "Listening" count mean on the comments?
A: The "people listening" count on comments displays the number of people that have decided to follow that conversation and/or the current number of people viewing that specific article.

Q: What does liking do in comments?
A: You can "Like" a comment if you agree with a point that the person who posted the comment was making. Or, you can "Like" a comment to show that you like what the person who posted the comment said. Liking a comment will also increase that user's point level on Livefyre.

Q: I find a comment inappropriate, but it wasn't removed from It's All Tech. What should I do?
A: If you find a comment that you believe is inappropriate that hasn't been removed from It's All Tech yet, please click the "Flag" link in the comment.

Q: What is this "Customize It's All Tech" thing?
A: Our readers now have the ability to customize how It's All Tech looks every time they visit. All you have to do is click the "Customize It's All Tech" link in the header on any page on It's All Tech and chose your customization options. Your customization options are remembered every time you visit It's All Tech, unless you clear your web browser's caches.

Q: What social networks is It's All Tech currently on?

Q: Does It's All Tech have an iOS app?
A: No. Please follow the instructions here in order to add an It's All Tech icon to your iOS device's homescreen. Clicking on the icon at any time will allow you to have quick access to all It's All Tech stories.

Q: How can I "like" or "recommend" It's All Tech on Facebook?
A: You can "recommend" It's All Tech on Facebook by either going directly to our Facebook page or by going to the homepage of It's All Tech and clicking on the "Recommend" button at the top of the sidebar.

Q: What are the different services I can use to share articles posted on It's All Tech?
A: The current options that are available include: Twitter, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn, Google +1, Facebook Recommend, and several other services available by AddThis. If you prefer to use another service for sharing articles, feel free to do so.

Q: Can I submit an article idea or tip to It's All Tech?
A: Yes. Click on the "Submit a Tip" link in the header on any page.

Q: What is this "Poll of the Week" thing?
A: Every week, we post a new poll in the sidebar, asking our readers what they think of a specific news event that happened in that last week. The ability to answer is closed exactly one week after the poll is posted.

Q: What does the different colored text in article excerpts mean?
A: The different colored text in article excerpts represents the main category that the specific article was posted in. Examples include Apple, Google, Breaking news, Featured stories, and Internet.

Q: What does It's All Tech consider to be a "Featured Story?"
A: It's All Tech considers a "Featured Story" to be one that is, either breaking news or that the author of the post feels will be important down the road. It may also be a topic that is getting a lot of attention in the media lately.

Q: What does It's All Tech consider to be "Breaking" news?
A: It's All Tech considers an article to be "Breaking" news if (and only if) the article is significant, such as a major product announcement, and the news has occurred within the last 24 hours of posting.

Q: What does It's All Tech consider to be an "Exclusive" article?
A: It's All Tech considers an article to be an exclusive if (and only if) It's All Tech has received a confirmed "tip" from a trusted source.

Q: What is the "Trending Topics Cloud?"
A: The Trending Topics Cloud, accessible by clicking the arrow in the "Featured Stories" section on the homepage of It's All Tech, shows the most popular topics on It's All Tech for that day.

Q: I noticed a mistake (spelling, grammar, or content) in an article posted on It's All Tech. What should I do?
A: If you notice some sort of mistake in an article on It's All Tech that you think should be fixed, the best thing you can do is leave a comment in that article describing the possible mistake. If that is not possible, you can email the author of the article directly (accessing the email from the author's about page) or leave It's All Tech or the author a message on Twitter.

Q: The Tweet Button and/or Follow Button aren't loading in Safari. What should I do?
A: Be sure you don't have "Do Not Track HTTP Header" checked in Safari's Develop menu. If you don't see a Develop menu in Safari, you shouldn't be having this issue. If you continue to have issues, inform It's All Tech staff.
