Sprint Stops Yesterday’s EVO 4G Update

This is apparently due to reports of it bricking some phones. The update is able to be applied twice to the phone, which then crashes the entire OS. HTC and Sprint have pulled the update and promise to have it back when they iron out the bugs.

While the vast majority of consumers successfully downloaded and installed the most recent HTC EVO 4G software update, we have received a handful of reports from customers having some issues with the update. In light of this, HTC and Sprint have decided to temporarily halt distribution of this software release until we can investigate further. We expect to be able to resume software updates shortly.

Seagate Releases a 3TB External Hard Drive

What could be better than a 3TB hard drive, oh yeah, one thats only $250! Seagate has just released their FreeAgent GoFlex Desk. It comes with a USB 2.0 adapter that can be upgraded to USB 3.0 or Firewire 800, depending on your available ports.

HTC Desire, Wildfire, and Legend to Join the Froyo Party in Q3

It has now been confirmed by HTC that these three phones will get Android 2.2 "beginning in Q3." This is good news to the owners of these phones, as it means the latest and greatest of that little green robot.

iPhone 4 Having Proximity Sensor Problems?

There have been many reports that the iPhone 4's proximity sensor is a little "over sensitive" and is causing problems such as turning on the speakerphone or putting the call on hold. The iPhone 4 has had many of these little problems since launch, but most seem to be slowly fading away. Let us know in the comments is your iPhone 4 having proximity sensor issues.

HTC Desire to Head to US Channels in August

Although it has been announced for the US, it will not be coming to any of the big 4 carriers. Instead it will be headed to "select regional operators." The HTC Desire has a 1GHZ Snapdragon processor, and Android 2.1 with Sense. It is similar to the HTC Droid Incredible, and the Google Nexus One.

Sprint Service Down In NYC Earlier Today?

According to several complaints Sprint voice network was down in NYC at about 2:19 local time. Though the network is now up, this is a very unlike Sprint event. It may have something to do with the EVO 4G launch.

iPhone HD (Surprise!

I don't think this will come as a surprise to anyone considering how many times this device has been caught in the wild. However I am looking forward to how Steve Jobs will introduce the device.

Mac Pro/ Apple Display

I believe Apple's high end desktop computer will be getting a well deserved update as well. It has been lacking in the features department (not to say it is a slacker, but it isn't top notch.) Apple's 30" Display I believe, will be phased out and replaced by an LED Display of either the same size or 27".

MacBook Air

I think Apple will show a new redesigned MacBook Air with several new features. Firstly, I think it will be slimmer in order to keep up with the competition (i.e. Dell Adamo XPS) Next, I think it will receive a clickable trackpad like all of Apple's other computers as well, as a black bezel.

Cloud Based iTunes

Now that Apple has purchased lala and it built a massive storage facility in North Carolina, I believe there is a great chance for cloud based storage of users' iTunes libraries.

What I Don't Expect

I don't expect either a Sprint or Verizon iPhone. I believe that Apple  will remain with AT&T for one more year (unfortunately)

I also don't think we will see a preview of Mac OS X 10.7 which would be really cool, but Snow Leopard was just released last year. I believe it will not be introduced until next year's WWDC or that there will be an Apple Special Event between now and then.

I think an updated Apple TV may be a possibility, but I don't think it will be introduced until September during Apple's music event.

[Update] Qik to Charge $4.99 a Month for Video Chat on EVO

With Sprint already requiring a $10 extra charge for "premium data services" with its new phone, it was assumed that it would include video chat. However, it now appears that the video service Qik (which is included with the phone) will be charging an extra $4.99 via PayPal. It is unfortunate that all these extra charges are piling up for such a great device, they may even deter customers from buying them.

[Update] Qik has responded to this awful rumor, and they quickly squashed it. However, they did say that standard chat is free, but advanced features will cost. Here is the official word

Sprint HTC Hero Gets the Upgrade to 2.1

Now, as you may know, there have been a lot of roots and hacks to get 2.1 on you Hero. However now the official release has been announced. But, Sprint has not made the update available, though the update will be available for download soon.

iPod Touch With Camera

An iPod touch containing a camera on the back has been posted on Tinhte. This model had DVT-1, meaning it is a prototype.It apparently has a 2 megapixel camera, and 64 GB of flash storage. This model may be released at this year's WWDC or at Apple's annual September Music Keynote.

HTC EVO Release on June 4th for $199

Sprint's HTC EVO will be released on June 4th for the price of 199.99 after a $100 mail-in-rebate. This release is just a week before the (expected) 4G iPhone launch. This could either be in favor of the EVO or it could work against it. The EVO has a 4.3" screen, 1 GHZ Snapdragon processor, a wifi hotspot capability for up to 8 devices, a front facing camera, and a kickstand for watching video.

Uh-oh! Another Lost iPhone Prototype?

A Vietnamese forum Taoviet.vn has posted more photos of the iPhone 4G (HD) prototype. It is reported that the man got the prototype while in America when he purchased an iPad. The phone also has a few changes from the original lost iPhone including: A more finished design, no screws on the bottom, and 16 GB of storage. In the tear down it also has an Apple branded A4 chip, similar to the iPad's.

Intel Planning to Launch Core i3 ULV Processors This Quarter

Intel has plans to introduce core i5 ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) processors sometime in June, but now PC World reports that a Core i3 ULV chip is in the works for sometime this quarter. Intel has yet to announce pricing, performance, or a release date. These new chips should however, bring a much needed speed boost to the current ULV market.

BB Slider Leaked Once Again

This new leak shows the same slider that we have grown used to from previous leaks, but this one has something new: BB OS 6. The shot taken of it is blurry, so it is hard to tell what the OS actually looks like. This slider may be released sometime in Q3, which is when OS 6 is supposed to be released.

Apple releases Aperture 3 with new features

Today Apple released a new version of Aperture. This version is said to have over 200 new features including: Faces, Places, Brushes, and Image Presets. This has been a long awaited update for some loyal Aperture fans.

Aperture 3, which runs as a 64-bit application on Intel Core 2 Duo Macs running Mac OS X Snow Leopard, is available for $199, with existing Aperture users able to upgrade for $99. A downloadable 30-day trial is also available.
