According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Asian component suppliers are claiming that Apple has placed an order that would build over ten million "iPad minis," a smaller version of the iPad that has been long-rumored now. While Apple has yet to confirm the existence of a smaller version of the iPad, all signs are pointing to a media event being held either later this month or next month to unveil the device.
Some component suppliers to Apple in Asia say they have received orders to make more than 10 million units of the smaller tablets in the fourth quarter. That is roughly double the order that were placed for Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablets in the same quarter, these suppliers say.
