According to several reports over the past twenty-four hours, Apple has begun pushing server-side updates for the highly criticized new Maps app in iOS 6. Since the software update launched last month, users have been complaining about incorrect directions, distorted 3D imagery, and incorrect points of interest (POIs) with the new Maps app. Apple CEO Tim Cook already issued an open letter about the issues, and stated that the company would continue working to improve Maps.
It appears as though the first updates that have been released are for the New York City area, specifically seen with the Statue of Liberty in 3D. Users are also reporting new locations that have support for 3D “flyover” imagery in iOS 6.
