According to a report from The New York Times, Google surpassed Microsoft's market capitalization for the first time ever today, making the Internet giant the third most valuable company in the United States behind Apple and Exxon Mobil. Google ended the day with a market cap of $249.19 billion, while Microsoft, whose stock dipped slightly, ended with $247.44 billion. The news is a big win for Google, but also a significant loss for Microsoft.
