Go Daddy: Yesterday’s widespread outage was not result of hack, DDoS

Yesterday, millions of websites hosted by Internet domain registrar and host Go Daddy went down for hours. While all of the affected websites have now recovered, Go Daddy CEO Scott Wagner has issued a statement on the company’s website that denies reports that the downtime was a result of a hack or DDoS attack.

The service outage was due to a series of internal network events that corrupted router data tables. Once the issues were identified, we took corrective actions to restore services for our customers and GoDaddy.com. We have implemented measures to prevent this from occurring again.

Wagner then reaffirms that no customer information was compromised during the issues yesterday.
