Yesterday, Twitter announced some major changes that will be coming to its API policy over the coming months. The popular social network revealed that any third-party Twitter client with over 100,000 users will need to receive Twitter's explicit permission to continue development. If an app currently has over 100,000 users, Twitter will allow 200% more growth before requiring permission to continue.

In addition, Twitter says that it will be introducing new design requirements for third-party clients that must be followed or the company reserves the right to block the app. These changes come as Twitter attempts "to ensure that Twitter users have a consistent experience wherever they see and interact with Tweets."
