Twitter announces major changes to API policy, angering developers

Yesterday, Twitter announced some major changes that will be coming to its API policy over the coming months. The popular social network revealed that any third-party Twitterб═client with over 100,000 users will need to receive Twitter’s explicit permission to continue development. If an app currently has over 100,000 users, Twitter will allow 200% more growth before requiring permission to continue.

In addition, Twitter says that it will be introducing new design requirements for third-party clients that must be followed or the company reserves the right to block the app. These changes come as Twitter attempts “to ensure that Twitter users have a consistent experience wherever they see and interact with Tweets.”
