According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Apple is working with several cable television providers in the United States to build an Apple-branded set-top box that would be used to display live TV, as well as other media. The report says that the set-top box will likely be significantly more expensive than the ones cable operators normally offer to customers, which are paid for every month.

Apple doesn't appear to have reached a deal with any cable operators. One obstacle may be the reluctance of operators to let Apple establish a foothold in the television business.
