Google announced today that its self-driving car project has now logged a total of more than 300,000 miles on the road, all of which have been accident-free. Google says that the next step of testing the self-driving cars is to have members of its team drive alone, rather than in pairs as currently required.
Our vehicles, of which about a dozen are on the road at any given time, have now completed more than 300,000 miles of testing. They’ve covered a wide range of traffic conditions, and there hasn’t been a single accident under computer control.
Finally, Google revealed that it has begun testing its self-driving car project with the Lexus RX450h.
