According to The Verge, Microsoft has sent an internal memo to its employees, telling them to stop using the "Metro" user interface term in Windows 8, Windows Phone 7, and other products. Microsoft's Metro design is a tile-based user interface that's currently found on a number of its products, including Windows Phone, Xbox, and soon-to-be Windows 8.

This news comes just as German retail company Metro AG threatened legal action against Microsoft for their use of the "Metro" trademark. Microsoft has clearly agreed to stop using the Metro name, and employees must do the same immediately.

The company says that it will reveal a new name for the design style soon.
