HP to merge printer and PC divisions

Earlier today, Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced that it will be merging its printer division (“Imaging and Printing Group”) and its PC division (“Personal Systems Group”) into one team. The new group will be called “Printing and Personal Systems Group” and will be led by formerб═executive vice president of HP’s PC division Todd Bradley.б═Vyomesh Joshi, the former executive vice president of HP’s printer division, will be retiring.

Combining these two entities will rationalize HPБ─≥s go-to-market strategy, branding, supply chain and customer support worldwide. This will lead to a better customer experience and drive innovation across personal computing and printing. This realignment is expected to provide opportunities for cost savings and accelerate HPБ─≥s ability to pursue profitable growth and reinvest in the business.

This news comes as HP attempts to reorganize the company under a new CEO, Meg Whitman, and bounce back from several struggling years. The process unofficially kicked off when HP axed its webOS division last Summer.
