According to a report from The Wall Street Journal yesterday, Google is currently in the process of developing a new home entertainment system that would allow people to stream music wirelessly throughout a home. The system would be branded under the Google name and be powered by Android OS, but it's unclear whether the web giant will be manufacturing the device itself. If Google does go down that route, it would be the first electronic device that it manufactures itself without outside help.

While some may question why Google would even think about entering this market, it does lineup with the company's recent focusing on music. This includes a new music section in the Android Market to buy tracks, an updated Music Manager app, and a refreshed online music streaming service dubbed "Google Music."

The entertainment system "is expected to be unveiled later this year."
