At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today, Motorola officially unveiled both the DROID RAZR MAXX and DROID 4 smartphones for Verizon Wireless customers. In addition, the company announced that the original DROID RAZR will be available in a purple color choice with 16 GB of onboard storage "in the coming weeks" for $199.99.
DROID RAZR MAXX
The DROID RAZR MAXX focuses on high-performance optimizations over the original DROID RAZR and is designed for people who mainly multitask. Boasting a 21-hour battery life, the DROID RAZR MAXX measures in at a mere 8.99 millimeters thin and will be available for $299.99 with a new two-year contract. The phone will come with 32 GB of onboard storage space.
DROID 4
The Motorola DROID 4 sports a 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM, alongside a five-row physical QWERTY keyboard in a case that is half an inch thin. The smartphone will run on Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network and be powered by Android OS 2.3 (a.k.a. "Gingerbread").
Other specs of the DROID 4:
- 8-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of shooting 1080p HD video
- 4-inch qHD display
- 16 GB of onboard storage and microSD card slot expandable up to 32 GB
The DROID 4 will be available from Verizon Wireless in the "coming weeks."
Android OS "Ice Cream Sandwich" updates from Motorola
In addition, Motorola announced its plans to update the DROID RAZR, DROID RAZR MAXX, DROID 4 and DROID XYBOARD tablet to Google's Android OS 4.0 (a.k.a. "Ice Cream Sandwich"). A rollout plan is not yet known, however.
