Alongside the public releases of iOS 5 and iCloud today, Apple also released several new apps for iOS devices, including: AirPort Utility, Find My Friends, Cards, and iTunes Movie Trailers. We've given more information on each app below:

AirPort Utility

The AirPort Utility app (App Store link) allows owners of an AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, or Time Capsule to manage their base station using their iOS device. The app is free to download and requires iOS 5.

Use AirPort Utility to manage your Wi-Fi network and AirPort base stations, including AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and Time Capsule — right from your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Find My Friends

Find My Friends (App Store link), which was initially announced at last week's "Let's Talk iPhone" event, was released to the public earlier today. The app allows users to share their location with friends and family and comes with a slew of privacy control features. The app is free to download and requires iOS 5.

Find My Friends allows you to easily locate your friends and family from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Install this free app on your iOS 5 device and sign in with the Apple ID you use with iCloud. Adding a friend is easy – just send a request to see their location. Once your friend accepts using the Find My Friends app, you will then be able to see that friend’s location on a list or on a map.

You can also choose to share your location for a limited period of time with a group of friends.

Use Find My Friends to keep track of your traveling companions when you’re on vacation. Or to see if the kids are home from school. Or to find the friends you’re meeting for dinner.

FEATURES

  • Easily locate friends and family
  • Temporary sharing option
  • Simple privacy controls
  • Parental restrictions
  • Free for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Cards

Cards (App Store link), which was initially announced at last week's "Lets Talk iPhone" event, allows users to send greeting cards to friends and family that they design on an iOS device. The app is free to download and requires iOS 5.

The new Cards app from Apple lets you create and mail beautifully crafted cards personalized with your own text and photos — right from your iPhone or iPod touch. Take a quick snapshot and with a few taps and swipes, an elegant letterpress card is on its way to any address in the world. Each card is just $2.99 when sent within the U.S. and $4.99 when sent to or from anywhere else. And that includes postage.
