Last week, we reported that Timelines.com had filed a lawsuit against Facebook over the social network's new "Timeline" feature, which displays all of a user's activity on Facebook since he/she joined the website. Timelines.com claims that Facebook proceeding with the general rollout of Timeline would cause confusion that the social network was associated with Timelines.com. In addition, Timelines.com owns the trademarks for "Timelines," "Timelines.com" and "Timelines&design" in the U.S.
According to a report, a judge has refused to grant a temporary injunction against Facebook that would prevent the social network from rolling out Timeline to the general public, which was initially expected to happen on September 30, 2011. With that being said, Facebook has agreed to delay the launch until both parties meet in court tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4, 2011.
The judge also told Timelines.com that it may once again attempt to receive an injunction against Facebook. In addition, Facebook is now required to present the numbers of developers it enrolls everyday until the issues are resolved between the parties. This is likely because anyone has the ability to begin using the new Timeline feature on Facebook (all they have to do is sign up to become a developer).
Facebook hasn't provided a new rollout plan for Timeline at this time.
