In a post on the Windows Phone Developer Blog discussing that Microsoft is now accepting app submissions for the "Mango" update to Windows Phone 7, the software giant sneaked it in that the Marketplace is about to hit 30,000 apps. "And of course, in addition to new and updated apps for Mango, the nearly 30,000 Windows Phone app and game titles available today will also run on Mango," the company stated.
For comparison purposes, it took the Android Market roughly 17 months to reach 30,000 available apps and it took Apple's App Store about 8 months. With Windows Phone 7 being released back in November 2010, it coincidentally took the Windows Phone Marketplace just about the same time as Apple's App Store to reach 30,000 apps.
There's clearly no doubt that developers are picking up on Windows Phone 7 quicker than most would have initially thought, but the question is - will developers continue to pick up or will Windows Phone soon peak?
