Google announced yesterday that it has launched a new blog, titled "Magnifier," which allows for users of the Music Beta by Google service to discover new music.

Today we introduced Magnifier, a new music discovery site that will keep your collection growing. Magnifier will feature great music and the people who make it, including videos of live performances, interviews with artists, explorations of different musical genres and free songs that you can add to your Music Beta collection.

Google also stated that it will be offering a "free Song of the Day," as well as two free tracks by the band My Morning Jacket. To receive these free songs, you have to be a part of Google's Music Beta service, which is currently invite-only.

One of the biggest criticisms of Music Beta prior to yesterday was that there was no way to discover new music (unlike Amazon's Cloud Player and Apple's iCloud service, both of which have accompanying music stores).
