Earlier in the day, Google reported its second quarter 2011 financial results. The company's conference call going over the earnings was led by Larry Page, Google's CEO. During the call, Page revealed that the search giant's two-week old social network, Google+, now has over 10 million registered users who are sharing 1 billion items everyday.

Mr. Page also explained that Circles, a part of Google+ that allows users to share content with only certain groups of people, is the most popular feature on the social network. “I'm super excited about the amazing response to Google+ which lets you share just like in real life,” he said.

For comparison, Facebook has 750 million registered users and has been around for 7 years. Google+, only two weeks old, has 10 million users.
