Earlier this month, we reported that Google had begun informing businesses not to create Google+ profiles yet because the search giant was working on a business-oriented profile page for the social network. At the time, Google made it very clear that it was going to be a few months before the company-oriented profile pages became widely available.

However, in a post on Google+ yesterday evening, Christian Oestlien, Group Product Manager at Google, stated that interest from "thousands upon thousands" of businesses has forced Google to get "very focused on accelerating our [Google] business plans." Oestlien continued: “Dennis Troper (product manager for business profiles), myself and the rest our team will focus next week on selecting a diverse set of business partners for the test period. We will be communicating with these partners next week, and will let the world know who they are soon thereafter.”
