Apple has plans to release an updated model MacBook Air late next week with Sandy Bridge processors, Thunderbolt, and backlit keyboards, according to a new report from AllThingsD.
Several sources indicate that the company plans to uncrate the eagerly anticipated updates to its MacBook Air line late next week. “The rumor sites are off by a week,” one source said.
This can put to rest rumors of Apple releasing new MacBook Airs, and most likely OS X Lion, this week. The last MacBook Air update was in October 2010.
Apple would not release new Mac hardware right before the launch of its new operation system OS X Lion so expect Lion's release to be before or at the same time as the new MacBook Airs.
In addition to the updated Intel processors and backlit keyboard the report notes the MacBook Air will be upgradeable through Apple to 256GB of flash storage.
