Nokia announced their next major smartphone, the N9. Which will be Nokia's first MeeGo device. It's sporting a 3.9" 854 x 480 AMOLED screen, 1GHz OMAP 3630 Processor (same one found in the Droid X, Droid 2, and Pre2.), a PowerVR SGX530 graphics processor, 16GB or 64GB of on-board storage, and 1GB of RAM. It also features an NFC chip for mobile payments. On the software side, it's running MeeGo 2.1.

This phone is interesting, because it has no front facing buttons. To unlock the device, you simply tap on the screen three times. That would take some serious time to get used too!

The internals are wrapped with a plastic exterior, which Nokia claims will rock "superior antenna performance." The Nokia N8 featured a 12 MP camera, while this one has an 8 MP camera, capable of shooting HD video. It'll ship in three colors - cyan, magenta, and black.

We are very interested in this device, but we wish it was the first Nokia device to run Windows Phone 7. We can't wait to see some of the hardware Nokia pumps out running Windows Phone 7.
