Web giant Google officially celebrates its 12th birthday today, Monday September 27th, 2010. The regular Google logo has been substituted to celebrate the day by a birthday cake image, painted by the American painter Wayne Thiebaud.
In the past, Google has sometimes celebrated its birthday on September 7th, as an exact launch date isn't known. However, the domain google.com was registered on September 15th, 1997.
In 12 years, Google has expanded from just search to email, news, desktop software, a social network (kind of), and arguably one of its greatest purchases, YouTube.
