Earlier today, Google revealed their Instant Search feature that displays live search results as you continue to type your keyword(s). Following the announcement Google's Marissa Mayer stated: “Google Instant will save 350 million hours of user time, over a year.” 350 million hours is based off of an average of two to five seconds saved with Instant Search.

Meanwhile, Google engineer Ben Gomes stated when asked about improving Google's speed: “Tomorrow we try to find ways to make it even faster. That’s what we’ve always done. You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
