Verizon has confirmed it, as well as Motorola's Official Facebook page. It appears the Verizon and Motorola has put all their effort into getting this update rolling out quicker then the 2.1 update.
They have announced some specs of the next update too.
- Of course Flash 10.1 beta
- Updated Camera software
- New Launcher
- Another Home Screen, 3 from 4.
The update will begin to roll out on the week of August 2nd.
UPDATE: Verizon has posted the upgrade instructions for Android 2.2 for the Motorola Droid. The instructions note that the update is mandatory, and once prompted, you will be reminded every 30 minutes until you update the device.
