The most recent versions of Google’s Chrome web browser have introduced a built-in Adobe Flash Player plugin so users won’t have to download it by themselves. However, sometimes this can be inconvenient, as Google has to update the plugin, while Adobe releases updates much more frequently. Here’s how to disable the built-in Flash Player plugin in Google Chrome to be able to use your own.
Step 1: In Google Chrome, type chrome://plugins/ into your address bar. A list of plugins that are currently installed should be listed now.
Step 2: Find the plugin with the title Shockwave Flash.
Step 3: Click the disable link under the Shockwave Flash section and then, it should be grayed out.
That’s it! You should now have disabled the built-in Flash Player plugin in Google Chrome. Be sure to restart your web browser to make the changes. If you still want to be able to view Flash content, you can re-enable the plugin, or download the Adobe Flash Player plugin from Adobe’s website.
