Apple's mobile advertising system for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, iAd, has officially gone live today. It seems like the service is still being rolled out to applications which have already been updated to support it, but expect the full roll-out in the coming hours.
iAd allows an application developer to embed non-Flash advertisements inside their apps, and allow users to click them, without ever leaving the application. Ads may show things like games, product advertisements and other things.
Ads are coded in HTML 5, meaning that it shouldn't kill your battery life like Flash advertisements might do.
