Remember just days ago when AT&T suffered their worst security breach in history where 114,000 email addresses of iPad 3G owners were exposed?
Well, when iPhone 4 went on pre-order yesterday, AT&T suffered another security breach. Gizmodo is reporting that a failed server software update on Tuesday may have caused the hole for customers who were pre-ordering an iPhone 4.
Earlier yesterday, an AT&T customer had sent Gizmodo a screenshot that showed a user who logged into their AT&T account, but displayed on the screen was an entirely different person's account.
The person who sent in the screenshot, who claimed to work for AT&T, said that there was a "major fraud update" implemented on the company's servers over the weekend, but it went terribly wrong. This is reportedly why people who wanted to pre-order an iPhone 4 had issues.
"I can confirm that there was a major outage over the weekend that impacted all ordering systems and programs, and I can confirm that there were multiple systems being upgraded/updated, with some updates being related to fraud" ... "At this point, I can say that the system that AT&T uses to send automated orders to be processed is as of this very moment down completely. Our facility is unable to process any orders by phone or by automation."
AT&T has stated that they are aware of the issue, and are looking into it. They have not given any further information.
