Two days ago we gave you a tutorial on how install iOS 4 Gold Master onto an iDevice. As promised, here is a tutorial on how to enable multitasking and wallpapers on the home screen on the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd generation, who both do not support it.

Apple disabled some features of iOS 4 on older devices, such as the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd generation because of lack of hardware support, or so that’s what they claim. However, both of these devices can run these new features perfectly fine, with no noticeable performance drop.

Here’s how to enable multitasking and wallpapers:

Note before we begin: You will need to jailbreak your device to be able to enable these features. This may void your warranty!

Note before we begin: This tutorial is ONLY for iPhone 3G/iPod touch 2nd generation users! If you are using another device, do not follow these steps. It’s All Tech is not responsible for any damages caused.

Step 1: Download redsn0w 0.9.5 BETA 1 (Mac only)

Step 2: Run the application and choose the SAME IPSW file you used to install iOS 4 GM

Step 3: Follow the steps on the screen and when you get to a screen that allows you to choose what you want to do with your device, make sure that “Enable multitasking and wallpapers” is CHECKED.

Step 4: Continue with the jailbreak, following all of the steps very closely.

Once your device restarts by itself, you should notice that a wallpaper is now on your home screen. To begin using multitasking, just double-click the home button and you should notice the multitasking interface pop up.

That’s it! You’ve enabled multitasking and wallpapers on your iPhone 3G/iPod touch 2nd generation! Now, get to using it.
