Google has announced that they have begun switching over the company's computers from Windows to an employee choice of Mac OS X or Linux, due to security concerns. The announcement comes just months after Google claimed they were hacked by individuals in China, in January. The attacks used Internet Explorer for Windows to breach into Google. The Financial Times reports the news from several Google employees:
"We're not doing any more Windows. It is a security effort," said one Google employee.
Employees, along with new hires, are given the option of a Mac OS X computer or a PC with Linux. Higher-up employees are given the option to stay on Windows, but they must get approved to do so.
One question - doesn't Google use anti-virus on their computers?
