BBC News is reporting that, one day after Pakistan filed a court order to block Facebook from the country, the government has now blocked YouTube due to its "growing sacrilegious content." Reports also show that Wikipedia and Flickr pages are being censored.
Reuters reported on Wednesday that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) told ISP's to block access to Facebook due to a group on the social network entitled "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day," a competition that was set to be held on May 20th.
TechCrunch is reporting that there has been a huge outburst from the country's 45 million Facebook users. It is said that the users have set up campaigns and have filed a petition to unban the website.
AssociatedPress is reporting that Facebook is investigating the issue, saying, "While the content does not violate our terms, we do understand it may not be legal in some countries."
