Twitter has a embarrassing new bug on their hands today - one that allows users to "force" anyone to follow them.

Their were several other reports that were able to confirm this issue and that when the bug was first made public, many users began using it.

An example of where this Twitter bug was used on a famous account was Conan O'Brien, who was previously following one person, and now follows 194.

Following the issue being made public, Twitter immediately began work on restoring all of the accounts that were affected and fix the bug. With this, many users are reporting that their following/followers counts have been reset to 0. Twitter has announced that this is due to the system being temporarily down as they fix the bug. Then, they posted an update to their status blog: “We identified and resolved a bug that permitted a user to “force” other users to follow them. We’re now working to rollback all abuse of the bug that took place. Follower/following numbers are currently at 0; we’re aware and this too should shortly be resolved.” Finally, Twitter has said that now private tweets have been affected by this bug.
