Google showed off a new piece of software today that uses the built-in camera, sends the information off to Google and then translates the text.
Google mentioned that the software doesn’t actually translate the text on your phone, which could be slow and inaccurate, but instead sends it to Google’s servers for processing. The picture is translated on Google’s cloud-based network.
Google used the example: "Fruhlingssalat mit Wildkrautern," which translated to: "Spring salad with wild herbs."
Google did not mention when the software would be available, or what operating systems it would support.
